It’s winter, your family is cold, and then the commercial for Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas comes on the television. Great, now your family is going to start begging to go to that crazy expensive place, and you are going to be the bad guy by saying “no way, we can’t afford to go to Atlantis”. Wrong! There are some ways to put a trip to Atlantis within your family’s budget, in fact there are 40 easy ways to save money at Atlantis Resort so you’ll be on that plane in no time. Read on.
Visit the Atlantis website, and you’ll discover that there are five lodging options for your vacation. That means five different price points at the five different towers. The cheaper rooms at Atlantis resort are at the Beach and Coral towers. A step up in lodging is at the Royal Towers (that’s the one you always see the picture of) and the Reef tower. If money is no object, than consider the Cove. Each tower has it’s benefits and drawbacks, but I’ll save that for another post. (There is a sixth option, Harborside Resort. I don’t mention it because it’s located across Paradise Lake and not a part of the main property.) We’re just talking about how to save money at Atlantis Resort on the lodging, food, and fun, because who doesn’t want to save some money?!

Start saving money and you’ll be here in no time!

How to Save Money on Your Lodging at Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas
- If your vacation dates are flexible, you can get a huge savings on your room rate if you stay during the week or visit during the off season. We visited the first week of January when the nightly rates at the Reef varied from $350-$484 during the 5 nights (Wednesday-Sunday) we were there. I checked a random weekday in June and the rate at the Reef was $263.
- Pay with points when you book your stay. The five properties at Atlantis are part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, so begin saving your Marriott points as soon as you start dreaming about the trip. Three of the towers (Coral, Royal, and Cove) can be booked with Marriott Bonvoy points and range in redemption categories from level 5-7. Unfortunately, the Reef and Beach can’t be reserved with points at this time. Not enough Marriott Bonvoy points? Other options available are Citi Thank You Points and Chase Ultimate Rewards.
- No hotel or travel reward points? Pay for your stay with a credit card that earns you some cash back. For example, use a card that pays 2% cash back on travel and get $20 for every $1,000 you spend. Don’t laugh….every little bit of savings adds up.

- Don’t stay at Atlantis. What?! Stay at the adjacent Comfort Suites and receive complimentary daily passes to Aquaventure, the water park at Atlantis. The room rates at the Comfort Suites are cheaper, and your family will be eating a free breakfast every morning. I compared prices on a random weekday in March, and the Comfort Suites was about $120 per night lower than the cheapest rate at Atlantis.
- Start watching for Atlantis lodging promos. Sign up for marketing emails and follow the resort on social media. Three of the promos I saw while planning our vacation were bonus Marriott points for your stay, a $400 resort credit if you stay 5 or more nights at the Reef, and up to a $300 dining credit to use at Atlantis based on your length of stay and tower you book.

Once the sun goes down, there are plenty of free activities for the whole family.
- See a reasonable room rate advertised? Guess what’s not included in that great rate…fees! Atlantis charges a nightly $12 gratuity fee. Don’t double up on tipping the housekeeping or bellmen, unless you’ve received some stellar service.
- Want to do laundry while you are on vacation? If so, stay at the Reef and the use of the washers and dryers is free! Exciting right? We packed 5 days of clothes for our 10 days of vacation, and were able to fit everything into carry-on bags. No checked baggage fees for us! Those baggage fees would have been $60/per bag if we had checked bags each way. Don’t forget to pack laundry soap, although it is available at the Sundries shop.

- As soon as you start thinking about a trip to Atlantis, set a budget and start saving! Having your vacation fund already full, means that you won’t be carrying the cost of the trip on your credit card for months. Think of the crazy amount of interest that you aren’t going to be subject to by paying off that trip. An average $2,000 balance with a 14% interest rate is $280 of interest in one year. That’s like paying for one night at Atlantis’ Coral Tower!
- If eligible, check for military discounts available on the Salute card from Caesars Rewards.
- Do you have status with Caesar Rewards? Check your account for discounts and free stays for Atlantis.
- If you are a Costco member, check the lodging prices offered through Costco Travel.
- When you are checking room rates, you’ll notice that it’s a little bit cheaper if you pay for your room in advance. I prepaid and saved about $120 on our stay.
Bonus Money Saving Tip – Get a 30 day free trial of Amazon Prime Video right before your trip, and download videos to entertain the family on the plane, or in the evenings when no one can agree on what tv show to watch.
How to Save Money on the Food at Atlantis Resort
- Don’t eat every meal in a restaurant! It’s very easy to pack some breakfast food in your suitcase, stop for groceries on your way to the resort, or have groceries delivered to your room. We always stop for groceries on our way to the resort and buy snacks, fruit, sandwich fixings, and refrigerated items. Here is a sampling of some of the prices we paid in January 2019: $1.19 Yoplait 6 oz yogurt, $1.49 Kraft mac ‘n cheese cup, $1.49 gallon of water, $3.29 dozen eggs, $4.19 Smuckers jelly, $3.89 1/2 gallon milk, $4.99 Simply orange juice, $1.79 sliced peaches, $4.99/pound grapes, $7.89 combo pack of sliced ham and turkey, $2.99 Doritos, 89 cents per orange, $5.99 fresh strawberries, $3.25 loaf of bread and $4 for packaged bakery items.
- Two words….concentrated coffee. Have you tried this yet? You can pack a small bottle of coffee concentrate in your suitcase, and make your favorite iced or hot coffee drink right in your room. A 7.5 ounce bottle of the concentrate makes 20-30 coffee drinks, and will save you a TON of money! I love Javy concentrated coffee, and am passing along my 20% discount…check out their flavors here and the discount will be applied to your order.
- You may not want to spend $9 for a case of bottled water at the store. At the Reef, we received four 12 oz. bottles of water every day. Buy a couple of gallon jugs of water if you think you will use more. All towers at Atlantis advertise that you will receive two bottles of water per room, per day.
- Our water wasn’t delivered every day, but a quick phone call made it promptly arrive.

The kitchen in your room at the Reef can save you big money!
- Did you know that the rooms in the Reef tower at Atlantis have small kitchens? Studios have a small fridge, microwave, two burner cook top, a dishwasher drawer, toaster, coffee maker, blender, pans, dishes and utensils. Suites have bigger kitchens. We ate two meals a day in our room and saved money and time. The trade-off is that the Reef has a higher room rate then the Beach, Coral, and usually the Royal Towers….but it’s so much nicer and worth it!
- Stop at a liquor store on your way to the resort, and buy your beverages. That quick stop means big savings over buying every drink at the pool bars and restaurants.
Related post: What to Bring to Atlantis – 35 Things to Add to Your Family’s Packing List
- Don’t forget to pack your own insulated drink cups. This is what we brought, and the outside of the cup would get hot but the inside would still be full of ice. You’ll be happy, when you’re sitting in the hot sun on the beach, that you have something cold to drink. Plus, you will have already bought your own drinks, and won’t be spending big $ at the poolside restaurants.
- Eat a couple of your meals off property. Take a break from the crowds and high prices that Atlantis is known for! Close options are Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville by the ferry landing, or walk over the bridge for some seafood at MacKenzies. Read the reviews of local restaurants on TripAdvisor here.

Get off property and eat out!
- Since most families love pizza, you’ll be happy to hear that there is a pizza place on property. It’s called Marina Pizza and located between the Royal and Coral towers. There is no seating inside, but there are tables outdoors (by the yachts) or take your pizza back to your room. Since you are not eating in the restaurant, bring your own beverages. I still cringe at the $6.75 that we paid for one bottle of beer, while we had 12 bottles of the same exact beer back in our room. An 18 inch, one topping pizza cost $32 and was also our lunch the next day.
- Atlantis has a lot of poolside eateries that are open for a quick lunch or snack. These poolside places sell “fill your own” sodas. Don’t head back to your lounge chair without getting a soda refill.
- Want a decent dinner for a decent price? Yes! Check out the Village Burger. It’s a reasonable meal for a family and located in the Marina Village. The price of a cheeseburger is $14 and add $4 for fries or onion rings, The sides are big enough to share and taste pretty good!
- Another favorite Atlantis meal of ours is dinner at Murray’s Deli. The portions are huge! Share a sandwich and save some money. My club sandwich cost $18 and I ate it over the course of one dinner and two lunches. Kids meals cost $9. Murray’s also has take-out, so you can eat at the tables outside near the yachts or back in your room.

You’re looking at 3 meals here!
- Each tower at Atlantis has a Sundries shop that sells a limited supply of grocery items, and the prices aren’t half bad. It’s far cheaper to run downstairs and grab a muffin than it is to go out for breakfast. We ran out of bread with a couple of days left and we still had a supply of meat, cheese, peanut butter, and jelly to use up. The last thing I wanted to do was buy something at the Sundries, but I reluctantly did. That’s when we discovered it was only $5 for a loaf of bread, I was expecting much more than that!
- Bring your own drinks and snacks to the pool and beach. We always brought our own snacks, but still purchased a couple of items from the poolside restaurants. The food is good, and I even found one place that sold my favorite Dole Whips!

Pineapple Dole whips! Any Disney fan will have to get at least one!
- The poolside restaurants sell kids meals at a cheaper price than regular meals, order kids meals for everyone and save. Or share some regular meals, if the kids are only “kind of” hungry.
- Atlantis is a cashless resort (kind of ironic when you think about it), everything gets charged to your room. Review your folio on your television every night to make sure everything is correct. Have any errors fixed immediately, don’t wait until check out.
- Do a little research ahead of time on the restaurants. Read the menus, read reviews, and check prices. Most of the restaurants in Marina Village had their menus posted outside, otherwise look online. You can read restaurant reviews for all of the restaurants on TripAdvisor here. You don’t want any surprises when you sit down and open up the menu!
- Every single restaurant will automatically add a 15% gratuity charge to your bill AND 12% for VAT (tax). Don’t double tip, and keep the added fees in mind when you budget for your trip.
- There are three Starbucks at Atlantis, but don’t load up your Starbucks card ahead of time. You can not use your card or any drink rewards at Atlantis. I like to redeem my Starbucks rewards at the airport for the more expensive sandwiches, because everyone is suddenly starving every time we have a flight to wait for.
How to Save Money at Atlantis and Still Have Fun
- Buy your Atlantis souvenirs at the Atlantis Logo stores. The Coral Tower Logo Store had the best selection of t-shirts, and they cost $22. Our youngest liked the sea life themed shirts at The Dig Logo Store and they cost only $16.
- Take advantage of all of the free things to do at Atlantis. Walk thru the Dig at the Royal Towers, visit the Predator Lagoon and tunnel near the Coral, watch one of three movies that are offered nightly at the Atlantis Theatre, and watch one of the sea life feedings that happen throughout the day.

Don’t miss the Predator Lagoon, rope bridge, and tunnel! It’s all free!
- Set spending limits with the kids and the other big spenders in your family. Do what you have to do, you know your family best.
- Have young kids? Buy them a few Atlantis type toys ahead of time and surprise them when you arrive. New stuffed animals are always popular!
- Bring more sunscreen than you think you will need. Trust me.
- Some outside tours (Rose Island, Blue Lagoon) leave from the ferry terminal that is near the Marina Village. Don’t pay for a hotel pick up, just hop on a free shuttle to the Village shops and walk the rest of the way.
- Use a credit card that has no foreign transaction fees.
- There is free wi-fi in the rooms and pool areas. Only four devices can connect in your room, don’t go over that to save some money.
- Read the daily Atlantean newsletter, for a schedule of all the activities for the day. Look for the box titled “Complimentary” and you are good to go. While we were there, the free activities included fish feedings, bingo, story time, and games. The Atlantean also lists the hours that all of the restaurants are open for that particular day. Look for the newsletter at the front desk or certain towel huts.

See the “Complimentary” box?
- Visit the water park early or later in the day. You will save time standing in line and get more bang for your buck.
- Pack your own beach toys. Pack one of these collapsible buckets and a small shovel in your carry on bag, and your kids will be happy! They do sell beach toys at the towel huts, but they must be covered in gold considering the price.
- Planning to swim with the dolphins at Atlantis? Research all of your “swim with the dolphins” options on the islands and you may find that a visit to somewhere else (Blue Lagoon, Balmoral Island) may be more reasonable for your family.
- If you’ve read through all the books you brought along during the first 2 days of your trip, you need to check out (get it?) the Atlantis library. It’s located in the Coral tower and has over 2,000 books available to check out. There are also board games just waiting to be played on a rainy day.

A portion of the library in the Coral tower.
A family vacation to Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas doesn’t have to break the bank. With a little planning, research, and financial discipline you can enjoy your vacation and not have to stress about the costs of paying for it.
Anytime you start to dream about visiting anywhere in the world, don’t automatically say “it’s too expensive”! Do some research and that dream destination may be easier to visit than you think!

What You Need to Pack for Your Atlantis Vacation
Your trip to Atlantis Bahamas is coming soon and it’s time to pack! Here is my list of 35 things that you may want to pack in your suitcase.
1. Waterproof case for your cell phone – This isn’t a necessity, but if you want your phone with you in the water park you will wish you had one. Want to take pictures of the sharks at the end of the Serpent slide? You’ll want this.
2. Goggles for the kids – Nice for the water slides, and for a ride in the fast moving Current “lazy” river.
3. Water shoes– There is a lot of walking that your family will do within the water park, and walking to and from the park to your room. Invest in some water proof shoes.

How does the water marine park work? Is this an extra cost?
What is the beverage credit at Atlantis? Is it worth purchasing?
Our family of six is going to Atlantis in December and we have a two room suite in the Royal. Do you know if they have a small fridge in the rooms? I didn’t see it listed in the room amenties. Also, can you reserve cabanas on the beach?
This link shows where the cabanas are located. All are in the waterpark or by pools. https://www.atlantisbahamas.com/thingstodo/waterpark/privatecabanas
I’m seeing conflicting info about mini refrigerators in the room. If there isn’t one in the room already, you may be able to rent one.
Have a great trip!
Yes, they have refrigerator in the rooms
Our stay in the beautiful Cove Suites did not have a fridge in the room but a quick call to maintenance and they brought one up in about 30 minutes.
The refrigerator in the room has always been at an extra cost and they’re very small
Question-
Would you book through the Atlantis site (and wait until I am able to book for April) or book NOW for April through Costco. I can’t really tell if it is worth waiting since I see that the Atlantis site has deals that give free nights and whatnot.
I just checked the Atlantis website and April is available for booking. I prefer booking thru the Atlantis website to take advantage of the offers and any discounts. Have a great trip!
My husband, my 5 year old and I will be staying at The Reef in November. I purchased round-trip transport as part of our package from airport to the resort. Do you know what kind of ride they offer and if we can ask the driver to stop at a grocery store for food and supplies. Also, what grocer will deliver to the resort?
I’m not familiar with the transportation that Atlantis offers.
You can check out Island Grocer for delivery. Islandgrocerbahamas.com
Also check out instagopher.com
I’ve not used either service, so don’t have any first hand info.
Have a great trip!
Hi Vicki,
My family of 4 (my boys are 16 &11) are traveling to the Atlantis in Early June of 2022. I’m torn between the Coral and the Royal. I want us all to be comfortable while in the room, but I don’t want to spend all the money on just the room. Any suggestions between the two? BTW, thank you for this site! It’s incredibly helpful!!
There are definitely pros and cons to each tower. The Royal tower is closer to Aquaventure, has the Dig right downstairs, and it is kind of fun to say you stayed at the tower that Atlantis is known for. The Coral tower may be more kid friendly and is close to some fun pool areas, has an ice cream shop downstairs, and other fun kid activities.
Between the two, I would pick Coral tower because it will be much more family friendly. Please note – I haven’t stayed overnight at either property….we love the Reef tower.
What is the best way to order groceries for your stay?
And where
Looks like Island Grocer Bahamas is a good choice for delivery. We’ve always had our taxi driver stop by the store on the way to Atlantis, so we can do our own shopping. There are sundries stores in the hotels that offered a nice selection of food, and the prices were not as outrageous as expected.
Hi! Is it worth it to get the dining plan? It says “up to 115$ per day”…. What does that exactly mean?
The value of the dining plan depends. You’ll want to take into account if you’ll take the time for three meals a day, if you’ll buy groceries for your room/condo, and what you may eat from the included restaurants. Adults get up to $115 of food and beverage value per day, over three meals, at the participating restaurants. You can check out the menus on the Atlantis website, and most have the prices listed so you can decide if you need to get the dining plan or if you can dine for cheaper on your own.
Do you have access to everything at Atlantis if you stay at the Comfort Inn?
A stay at the Comfort Suites on Paradise Island, incudes complimentary access to the facilities at Atlantis. This includes the water park.
Any recommendations on one room or two room options for a family of 5 (kids are really teens / young adult, 18, 16, 13)? We don’t want to be separated, but rooms appear to be set up for four or eight people. I know my kids can share a bed. but appears hotel wants us to have two rooms. I am planning for early January 2022 visit.
You may want to consider booking a suite at the Reef or Harborside properties. My first choice would be a suite at the Reef because of the location and the private beach and pools. The Reef is located on the quieter side of the property, and some say it’s too far from the action. We found that a 10-15 minute walk got you to the waterpark, and the shuttle service runs very frequently and will bring you throughout the property. The Harborside will give your family a lot of room, but is located off of the main resort property. I recommend a suite at either property because they have kitchens. Your family can save ALOT of money on your potential food costs by making use of your own kitchen. You will want to consider this savings when making your decision.
Right now, a suite at the Reef, for mid January, runs $671 a night and the Harborside is $721. Regular rooms for the same time are $361 at the Reef and $321 at the Harborside.
(Atlantis has a 4 person (5 with a child under 4) occupancy in standard rooms due to fire code.)
We booked a month ago 1 bedroom suite for 4 of us. Last minute my daughter invited her friend not knowing the 4 person limit. I know we can get an air bed , but will they the allow the 5 th person at all. Just dont know what options I have this late in the game. We will be there June 20-26. Just wondering would there ever know? I could pay the fees for the extra person.
I would give them a call to discuss your options. Have a great trip!
Was there any issues? Did they charge you for the 3rd and 4th person? My son has just turned 12. Wondering how strict they are on the 3rd person charge if they check Id
Hi Vicki!
Do you recommend any restaurants in neighboring resorts that are reasonable?
Hi Elizabeth –
We haven’t taken the time to walk to any of the other resorts in the area. I’ve heard that The Ocean Club has fantastic food, but haven’t been there and it probably doesn’t count as “reasonable”. They have their restaurant menus on their website. If you find any good spots, please let me know!
La Matisse over the bridge in Nassau is amazing. You can take the water taxi if you don’t go over too late and a cab back.
Thanks very much for starting this blog. We’re a party of six adults going to Harborside late June. We’re Harborside owners but I’ve not been in 10 years(usually rent out). We’ve done some of the savings items mentioned and will be sure to share when we return.
For Harborside folks we take the shuttle to The Cove walk through the lobby and to the right. Come out by the elevators – pickup towels outside and walk to Cove beach(not “The Cove” beach). Homebase there and go on all of the slides and things. Enjoy all!!!
Thanks Dave! We’re staying at Harborside in November and any helpful advise is greatly appreciated. Now we know…shuttle to the Cove, thru the lobby and passed the elevators
Hi, Family of 5, all adults headed to Atlantis in June. Still looks like a lot of places closed and not doing special events like bands/entertainment, this is disappointing. We are not sure what to expect. Do you have any info about the fish fry area Arawak Cay? Are there shops and entertainment along with the restaurants? Restaurant suggestions? Also heard Margaritaville is closed?
Hi Kelly – Margaritaville just opened back up, last week. The fish fry area is just a row of restaurants, we had a great meal at Frankie Gone Bananas. Most of the shops are on Bay Street and they cater to the people coming off the cruise ships.
I would recommend a private tour of the island if your are a first time visitor. We hired a driver through Cheryl’s Taxi for a half of day. He drove us where we wanted and gave us a little history of the island. We visited John Watling’s Distillery, the Queen’s Staircase, the Rum Cake Factory, Graycliff, and the fish fry area.
Day trips to Blue Lagoon or Sandy Toe’s are fun. Both places offer various activities or you can just relax on the beach!
Hopefully by June, there will be some more options! I think you are still going to have a fantastic trip!
Hi Vicki,
Thank you for all of this info. First time heading to The Bahamas and wondering if we need to make reservations at Margaritaviile? And, is it safe to leave the Atlantis property? I have heard mixed views.
We didn’t make reservations for Margaritaville for an early dinner, but it did get busy by the time we were done eating. It doesn’t hurt to call and ask.
Because we have two young kids along when we visit the Bahamas, we only feel comfortable in Nassau when a driver is with us. It helps if you know where you are going, and are aware of your surroundings. We only venture off property during the day, and are happy to stay on resort property during the evenings. I hope you have a fantastic trip!
Vicki, how much was the driver for half a day from Cheryl’s Taxi?
We paid $55 per hour for our tour. This was in early 2019. You’ll probably want to send Cheryl an email for a quote. cherylfoxferguson@live.com
Can you tell me how much was the tour
Our 3 hour tour was $165.
My family of 4 (wife and two boys, ages 17 and 7) are headed to Atlantis next month for 5 days and staying in a suite at The Reef. They are offering a discount of food/beverage credits, $15 free for every $100 purchased. If I purchased $600 ($690 total with the “bonus”), do you think that would be enough to last? The suites comes with free breakfast each day for 2 people, and we are planning to bring snacks and stop by the liquor/grocery store also.
Maybe…If you were planning to eat dinner out each evening, and to also buy some snacks during the day you may be cutting it close. Here are some of our dinner totals from our stay during January 2019 (for 2 adults, 2 girls ages 12 and 8) –
Marina Pizza $77.85 for an 18″ pizza with 3 toppings, small salad, 2 sodas and 2 drinks.
Murray’s Deli $85.73 for 2 sandwiches, 2 kids meals, 3 sodas.
Village Burger $92.08 for 3 burgers, 1 chicken tenders, 2 sides, and 3 sodas
Breakwater Grill $29.85 for nachos, hot dog, soda, and ice cream (not a dinner, just poolside snacks)
I always recommend getting food at the grocery store for lunch and breakfast. You’ll save a ton of money! Plus, you want those meals to be quick so you can be out in the water park or on the beach as much as possible.
Have a great stay at the Reef! Don’t miss my article on the Reef, it includes photos and tips for your stay!
Where did you get the dole whip from??
We found it at the cafe by the Splashers Kids Pool!
This information is spot on! Exaclty what I wanted to know that I could not find anywhere. thank you!
You’re welcome! Thanks for the comment!
This is by far the best savings blog I have found on the Atlantis…thank you!!
You’re welcome! All of the little ways to save money really add up!
Hi Vicki. This is all great information. Thank you! Do you know a reputable place to rent a hotspot during our visit? Thanks.
You are welcome! I don’t know of anywhere to rent a hotspot. If no one else jumps in with an answer, I’d ask the concierge when you get there.
Have a great trip!
Vicki,My friend and I are seniors who are staying at the Harborside. Can you tell me how to access the beach with chairs and umbrellas? Will we still have access to all the Atlantis amenities. Do you have any advice for us? We are ladies who are in good health!!
Hi Valerie – You’ll want to take an Atlantis shuttle to the Beach Tower for the easiest access to Cabbage Beach. There is a sidewalk along the beach that runs from the Beach Tower all the way to the Royal Tower. It’s a nice walk because you can enter the beach at various points, as well as the Atlantis pool areas and Predator Lagoon.
To enter the Aquaventure water park, you’ll need to show your room key and get a wristband at any of the towel huts. You need to get a new wristband everyday.
Harborside is very close to Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville restaurant, and I would recommend eating there. It’s not on Atlantis property, and the prices are a little more reasonable.
I think the perfect evenings at Atlantis are eating dinner at a restaurant in Marina Village (walk or shuttle there), then window shopping thru the village. The Marina is usually lined with yachts, so you can’t miss checking those out too. We then wander into the Coral Tower and walk thru the Crystal Court shops toward the Royal Tower. There is the Sun and Ice Ice Cream Parlour in the Coral that is very good for dessert…if you haven’t already stopped at Ben and Jerry’s in Marina Village. After window shopping, we take a walk thru The Dig (the aquarium) in the Royal Tower. After that, you would want to catch a shuttle in front of the Royal Tower to take you back to Harborside. The shuttles list their stops on the side of the vehicle. You have access to everything at Atlantis by staying at Harborside.
Check out the daily Atlantean newsletter for a list of activities, and the fish feeding schedule. The fish feedings are fun and we usually learn something.
You and your friend are going to have a great trip!
Wow! Amazing helpful article, thank you! We’re off to the Reef tomorrow with 3 young kids – your article really helped us! Can’t wait! 😊
Yay! Have fun! I’m writing a separate article about the Reef, since it really is a fantastic place for families!
Great advice!!!!
THESE are GREAT TIPS THANKS! I am going w my 14yr old. I will stop at the stores for sure. The beach off The Beach Tower- are there umbrellas and chairs at that side? I saw the answer to the other towers
You are so welcome! You’ll be using Cabbage Beach by the Beach Tower. There are chairs, but I’m not certain on umbrellas or sun shades. Have a fun trip!
Which grocery store did you use? Is there one within walking distance of the resort?
We’ve shopped at two different Super Value stores on Nassau. We have the driver, from Cheryl’s Taxi, stop there on our way from the airport. They give you 30 minutes to shop for an added fee of $20 (this was the fee in January 2019). There is a small grocery store behind the Marina Village shops, called the Village Grocery Store. I haven’t had to shop there, but I think it’s pretty small. The sundry shops throughout the resort sell a small selection of groceries, prices are higher, but not outrageous.
what was you cost for taxi ride to resort?
Our fare on Cheryl’s taxi was $74 from the airport to Atlantis. Their charges vary based on the number of people and bags. We had 4 people and 4 small suitcases. The $74 included a stop at the grocery store and a stop at a liquor store. They meet you curbside at the airport with homemade Bahama Mama drinks for the adults and juice for the kids. Depending on the driver, you may get a little island history during your ride.
Did you book your taxi before you arrived or just grabbed one at the airport?
I want our vacations to start out as smoothly as possible, so I book my taxi before our trip. I use Cheryl’s Taxi, and I get a quote thru her website. We always stop at a grocery store and liquor store on our way to Atlantis, and that’s already included in our quote and reservation. Plus they have cold Bahama Mama’s, beer, juice, and water ready for you in their cooler!
For those wanting to save a little money, we have always just grabbed a taxi when we arrive. $38 for two +$8/person extra + $2 for the bridge toll. We always pay a few extra dollars in tips to stop at the liquor/grocery store.
thank you for so much great information. We are staying at Royal. Can you tell me if beach access is free & also umbrella use. Did you go off site for any dinners?
Hi Andee- Yes, there is free access to Cabbage Beach and beach chairs. We only used the beach (Paradise Beach) that was accessible to Reef and Cove guests, and the chairs had backs with sun shades so we didn’t need umbrellas. We only walked on Cabbage Beach for a couple of minutes, and I don’t remember noticing any umbrellas.
We ate two dinners off site. One was at Margaritaville, which is near the ferry terminal and within walking distance. The food was very good and the prices were a little bit better than Atlantis. We also ate a meal at Frankie Gone Bananas located in the Fish Fry. It was great to experience an authentic Bahamian meal! I personally would only visit the Fish Fry restaurants during the day time. We had hired a private driver for the afternoon, and he did drop us off at the restaurant and then waited for us while we dined.
We had planned to walk across the bridge to eat at McKenzie’s but ran out of time. They have a lot of good reviews on TripAdvisor….but it’s a dive…which means cheap and good food.
My husband and I are not Big eaters at dinner, can we split a meal? is that allowed? we are not doing the meal plan. Thanks
Hi Penny – I’m sure there would be no issue splitting at the quick and casual eateries, but you may run into a surcharge at the fine dining establishments. On our last trip, we sat near a couple in Murray’s Deli who each ordered soup and then split a sandwich with no hassle. We also found that some restaurants served lunch until 5:00, so you’re getting smaller portions and a smaller price!
Order whatever you want (kids meals, one meal to share, etc.) from the poolside cafe’s because most are counter service and they’ll never know who’s in your party.
You could consider a stop at a grocery store and purchase your own breakfast and lunch fixings. We stayed at the Reef tower, with a kitchen, and prepared a lot of our own meals.
My favorite tip….eat a big lunch and just have dessert for dinner! Yum!
Have a great trip!
Do you recommend a certain taxi service to get from the Airport to Atlantis and make stops for food etc?
Thanks!

We’ve used Cheryl’s twice to get from the airport to Atlantis. They’ve stopped at grocery and liquor stores for us for a small additional fee. They will give you a price quote up front. Here’s more info…. http://www.cherylbahamastaxiandtours.com/
Can you send the link for cheryl’s again please? I can’t see the entire web address for some reason.
Try this—

Sorry about that!
I see that on my phone the website is cut off…until I turn my phone sideways to landscape view.
Hello, we are planing to book the beach at atlantis for our stay from costco. do we still need to pay the fees for using the beach or the water park ?
Since you’re staying onsite at the Beach Tower, the water park is included. You’ll be able to get wristbands every day that get you into the Aquaventure water park. The Beach Tower is on Cabbage Beach…which is public. Have a great vacation!
I want to visit the Bahamas for the beautiful white sand beaches. The Atlantis looks lovely.
The beaches are the best!
You listed so many useful tips in your blog post, thank you! I’m going to the Atlantis Resort in March this year and I can’t be happier that I managed to find your blog post 🙂
Thank you! I hope you have a fantastic trip!
Bring a Brita water pitcher with newer filter and put it in your suitcase. With tropical heat you will drink a ton of water and it is very expensive their and not very good tasting out of the hotel tap. Yes, we stayed at Comfort Suite saving a ton yet getting access to Atlantis !!
Another great tip! Thank you!
is the tap water safe to drink there so using the Brita is fine?
The tap water is safe to drink everywhere at Atlantis. Bring the Brita and you’ll be fine!
