Well, did you finally try that food or beverage that you have always been curious about? We sure did!
My 11 year old has been pestering me to buy a dragon fruit lately, especially since she loves the dragon fruit flavored vitamin water from Glaceau. The first time we saw dragon fruit in the store, it cost $12! Now they must be in season, because the price was $4 a pound. But, still!
I’ve been curious about kombucha and I found a cranberry flavored one at the store to try. I figured the cranberry flavor would help enhance/overpower the kombucha flavor. Kombucha is a fermented tea and when I opened the bottle it smelled a bit like vinegar. The taste was okay, especially since the cranberry flavor was in there.
The cranberry is actually cosmic cranberry, so I should start to feel enlightened, renewed, rebalanced, and recharged very soon! I’ll finish the bottle, but probably won’t buy it again.
The dragon fruit was very unusual. I didn’t research it ahead of time, so we were surprised to see the white flesh when I cut open the pink skinned fruit. The inside was similar to a kiwi fruit, and the white flesh had tiny black seeds throughout. It was odd looking! The taste wasn’t as fruity as we expected. Just a little sweetness and not too juicy. The only good thing is that I can now go to the store and not have my 11 year old beg to buy a dragon fruit!
Why we do the Food First Before Friday Challenge
Incorporating new experiences into your life doesn’t have to be a big event, in fact, it can be a simple first that can change your week. The main thing is to just try something new! So, I am doing a weekly challenge to try one new food by next Friday. Yes, just one new food a week. But just think, after one year, you’ll have experienced 52 new foods that you probably wouldn’t have even tried without this challenge! Each Friday, I’ll post the challenge and the results from the prior week.
Big News for the Food First Before Friday Challenge
