Yes, we like our sweets in our household. The candy bars that we tried this week were all winners! Wasn’t this an easy challenge!
Four of the candy bars that we tasted were purchased in Canada. The Canadian candy bars were Coffee Crisp, Crispy Crunch, Caramilk, and Crunchies. Are all candy bars sold in Canada required to begin with the letter C? Three of them were Cadbury brand and one was a Nestle.
The favorite of the Canadian bars was the Crispy Crunch. It was similar to a Butterfinger or a Fifth Avenue. The least favorite was the Crunchies. This bar was a chocolate coated sponge toffee and the texture was kind of odd. Plus the word “sponge” was kind of a turn off.
We visited a Ghirardelli shop not too long ago and picked up some single chocolates. The ones we tried this week were 60% Dark Chocolate, 86% Intense Dark Chocolate and a Spicy Caramel Chocolate.
The Spicy Caramel was way too spicy for the kids and I thought it was just okay. I love caramel, but not spicy caramel. The dark chocolate bars were very smooth and had a strong chocolate flavor. When you sample dark chocolate, you have to let the chocolate melt in your mouth to get the full flavor. That concept is lost on my kids as they proceed to chew the chocolate without really tasting it. Someday they’ll appreciate dark chocolate…
The kids favored the Mamba fruit chews. Anything fruity is a pretty safe choice for them. The Hershey’s Cookie Layer Crunch was pretty good too!
I hope you and your family had a little bit of fun this week sampling some new candy bars. The kids probably thought it was quite a treat!
Why we do the Food First Before Friday Challenge
Incorporating new experiences into your life doesn’t have to be a big event, in fact, it can be a simple first that can change your week. The main thing is to just try something new! So, I am doing a weekly challenge to try one new food by next Friday. Yes, just one new food a week. But just think, after one year, you’ll have experienced 52 new foods that you probably wouldn’t have even tried without this challenge! Each Friday, I’ll post the challenge and the results from the prior week.
Next Week’s Challenge
How about Greek food? I guess we should eat a little healthier after all those candy bars. Here are some Greek words for you: mousakka, baklava, tzatziki, pastitsio and spanakopita. I honestly don’t think our family has eaten any of these Greek dishes. It will be a first for us!
Opa! Don’t smash any plates though!
