Lunch – A Food First by Friday

How did everyone do with eating something new for lunch this past week?  I started out pretty poorly because I ate my usual ham and cheese sandwich for lunch three days in a row!  But I rebounded and had a few new things!

Since our cherry tomato plants are exploding with ripe tomatoes right now, I made a tomato salad for lunch one day.  I sliced a bowl full of cherry tomatoes in half, drizzled them with olive oil, seasoned with salt and pepper, and topped them with some chunks of romano cheese.  Fresh tomatoes are the best aren’t they?

This summer my oldest daughter started eating Caesar salad, every chance she could.  I had all the fixin’s on hand, so she whipped up a Caesar salad for her and me to enjoy for yesterday’s lunch.  Her making lunch for me…well, that was a first!

My favorite lunch this week was a Navajo taco.  Have you ever had one?  It’s a piece of fried bread topped with taco meat and taco toppings.  It is so good!  It was pretty filling, so not something I could eat too often.

Not my normal lunch!

Why we do the Food First Before Friday Challenge

Incorporating new experiences into your life doesn’t have to be a big event, in fact, it can be a simple first that can change your week.  The main thing is to just try something new!  So, I am doing a weekly challenge to try one new food by next Friday.  Yes, just one new food a week.  But just think, after one year, you’ll have experienced 52 new foods that you probably wouldn’t have even tried without this challenge!  Each Friday, I’ll post the challenge and the results from the prior week.

Next Week’s Challenge

Since we tried something new for lunch last week and breakfast the week before, it’s time to try something new for dinner.  Since it’s a holiday weekend, maybe throw something different on the grill (pizza, salmon, brisket)?  Or, go out to eat and order something that you’ve never had!

What was your food first before Friday last week?
